Southern All Star Racing Series Returns to Action at Talladega Short Track October 19

Fayetteville, TN- October 10, 2013- The Southern All Star Racing Series returns to action after a couple of weeks off for its third and final visit of the 2013 season to the track known throughout the South as “The Hornet’s Nest”, Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL, for a $4,000 to win, $300 to start event that coincides with NASCAR Sprint Cup Weekend at Talladega SuperSpeedway, located across the road from Talladega Short Track.

Also, as a warm-up for the weekend, Talladega Short Track will present a full program of racing competition on Friday October 18 that will feature Super Late Models racing for $2,000 to win in an unsanctioned event to kick off the dirt activities for NASCAR Sprint Cup Weekend.

On Saturday October 19, the Southern All Star Racing Series will visit Talladega Short Track on NASCAR Sprint Cup Weekend and will be in action in a complete program of practice, WhitePerformance.com A-B Group Time Trials, PPM Racing Products Last Chance Showdowns, and will conclude with the 40 lap, $4,000 to win A-Main event.  All local support divisions at Talladega Short Track will also be in action as part of the program along with the Southern All Star Racing Series on Saturday October 19.

The stop by the Southern All Star Racing Series to Talladega Short Track will mark the tour’s 86th visit at the storied Alabama racing facility.  The series has made two previous visits already in 2013, with Randy Weaver of Crossville, TN winning the B.J. Parker Memorial back on June 22 of this season, while William Thomas of Phenix City, AL won the tour’s most recent event at TST, the Michael Head, Jr. Memorial back on July 27.

Among those expected from the Southern All Star Racing Series stable of drivers include series points leader Riley Hickman of Chattanooga, TN, Bret Holmes of Munford, AL, Mike Weeks of Friendsville, TN, Mark Rosner of Rockford, TN, Jason Hiett of Oxford, AL, Billy Ogle, Jr. of Knoxville, TN, Ray Cook of Brasstown, NC, William Thomas of Phenix City, AL, , Randy Weaver of Crossville, TN, and Jake Knowles of Tyrone, GA, along with a strong array of talented local and regional racing stars such as Brandon Kinzer of Allen, KY, Tim Roszell of Anniston, AL, Danny Peoples of Margaret, AL, Jason Wilson of Gadsden, AL, Terry Smith of Oxford, AL, Ross Martin of Talladega, AL, Adam Martin of Talladega, AL, Tim Busha of Boaz, AL, Joe Armistead, Jr. of Senoia, GA, Carlton Freeman of Eastaboga, AL, Tom Maddox of Centre, AL, Dylan Ames of Harvest, AL, plus many more are expected.  The tour has presented nineteen events so far in 2013 and has seen twelve different drivers visit victory with the series this season.

Activities for the Southern All Star Racing Series October 19 NASCAR Sprint Cup Weekend visit to Talladega Short Track will see the pit area open at 3:00 p.m., with the general admission open at 3:00 p.m.  The drivers meeting will take place at 6:00 p.m., with practice laps set to get underway immediately following the drivers meeting, followed by time trials and green flag racing.  All times listed are CDT.  Ticket prices for the Talladega Short Track in the general admission area will be $15 for adults, while a pit pass will be $30.

Southern All Star Racing Series Talladega Short Track A-Main Payout for Saturday October 19: 1st- $4,000, 2nd- $2,000, 3rd- $1,000, 4th- $750, 5th- $650, 6th- $550, 7th- $525, 8th- $500, 9th- $450, 10th- $425, 11th- $400, 12th- $350, 13th- $340, 14th- $330, 15th- $320, 16th- $310, 17th- $300, 18th- $300, 19th- $300, 20th- $300, 21st- $300, 22nd- $300, 23rd- $300, 24th- $300.

The entry fee for the Saturday October 19 event at Talladega Short Track is $100 and can be made payable to the Southern All Star Racing Series.  The tire rule is exclusively Hoosier Tires and the only compounds eligible to be used are the Hoosier 1350, 1450, 1600, 21, 55, and 70 compounds, along with the Lucas Oil 03, 05, and 06 compounds.
