U.S. Legends and Bandolero cars returned to the winding curves of the infield road course at Atlanta Motor Speedway for the first time since 2009 on Saturday.

The Beginner Bandolero Division feature race led the day off, taking to the 0.7-mile short course. Ryan Younginer of Jonesboro won the pole and led flag to flag through a number of cautions to claim the first road course win of the four-week season. Finishing second was Gage Roberts of Milledgeville, and Canton’s Logan Nalley rounded out the top-three.

The second race of the day featured a combined Bandolero Bandits and Outlaws Division. Similarly, Ricky Springer of McDonough led each of the eight laps, taking the checkered flag several car lengths ahead of runner up Will Robusto of Fort Mill, South Carolina. Rounding out the top-three was Stockbridge’s Connor Younginer.

In the Legends cars, Chris Dilbeck of Hampton won the pole for the combined Masters/Semi-Pro Division feature on the 1.2-mile long course and led the first two laps before Douglasville’s William Martin wrested the lead on the third lap.

Dilbeck stayed patient, just behind Martin for the next six laps, giving him little room for error. On lap 8, Dilbeck’s opportunity presented itself, and he pounced on a near spin by Martin in Turn 8 to reclaim the lead.

Dilbeck led the field the final two laps, despite two separate cautions and subsequent restarts, to claim the victory. Martin, not far behind, took second place, and McDonough’s Scott Moseley finished third.

The four-week series continues on the infield road course Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 12 and 13.
