Heavy Rains forced GMP to reschedule the July 4th Slack Auto Parts World Crown 300 Presented by Peach State Freightliner and Ford Power Stroke Diesel to August 10th. The fireworks show, sponsored by Royal Oak, will also take place at the conclusion of the August 10th race events.
After exhausting the possibility of another race date between now and the end of the year, GMP did not see any way to secure a future date without conflicting with other race tracks or race series. Knowing that teams have already scheduled their year, GMP did not want to put a hardship on teams that want to be apart of this huge race event. Since the August 10th date was already part of the Southern Super Series schedule, it was the only logical choice that GMP could make for the running of the 30th-Annual World Crown 300.
“All of us at GMP are very sorry that Mother Nature did not cooperate for the 30th running of the World Crown on the 4th of July,” said Jim Gresham, Owner of GMP. ”I would like to personally thank Dan and all the rest of the GMP crew for all their hard work preparing for this event only to have it washed out. The GMP crew would also like to thank all of our sponsors, racers and fans for working with us to make this new date of August 10th what we feel will be some great racing and fun for all”.
The schedule for the Slack Auto Parts World Crown 300 Presented by Peach State Freightliner and Ford Power Stroke Diesel will be posted to GMP’s website on Monday afternoon. The purses, format of the race and the number of laps will remain the same as those intended for the July 4th World Crown 300. Outlaw Late Models, Trucks, Sportsman, Renegades and Mini Stocks are also scheduled to run on August 10th in addition to the Southern Super Series Late Models. This race will replace the final 125-lap Southern Super Series Race at GMP that was scheduled on August 10th and that race event will not be rescheduled. The Slack Auto Parts World Crown 300 Presented by Peach State Freightliner and Ford Power Stroke Diesel will be the final race event of the 2013 race season at GMP.
The Slack Auto Parts World Crown 300 presented by Peach State Freightliner and Ford Power Stroke Diesel will be a one-day event. On Friday, August 9th, GMP will have a track rental day for only Southern Super Series Late Models. All times and details about the track rental day will be posted on GMP’s website on Monday afternoon.
Further details about ticketing and trackside parking related to the rescheduled World Crown 300 will be released on Monday afternoon.
The next race event at GMP will be the JEGS 100 Pro Late Model Race on July 20th.
