National Tour’s 2013 Season Set To Conclude With World Finals Nov. 7-9 At The Dirt Track At Charlotte

The World of Outlaws Late Model Series event scheduled for Tues., Nov. 5, at Lavonia Speedway has been canceled, track and series officials announced on Tuesday.
Lavonia promoter Stan Lester cited safety concerns related to problems with the Georgia track’s homestretch wall for prompting his decision to call off the race, which had been rescheduled from its original May 3 date by rain.
“It’s terribly disappointing to cancel the first-ever World of Outlaws Late Model Series event at Lavonia Speedway,” said Lester. “But when we found that the concrete homestretch wall was separating from the ground behind it, it was clear that we couldn’t take a chance with the safety of the drivers. We have to tear the wall down and replace it – like we did with the backstretch wall that was lying on the ground when we bought the track last year – before we have another race.”
Lester said he is working with WoO LMS director Tim Christman to schedule an appearance by the national tour at Lavonia in 2014.
The Lavonia event was set to serve as a lead-in to the 2013 WoO LMS season-ending World Finals on Nov. 7-9 at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, N.C. Two 50-lap, $12,000-to-win A-Mains will make up the Late Model portion of the World Finals, a blockbuster weekend that also includes racing for the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series and the Super DIRTcar Series Big-Block Modifieds.
