Jessica’s Run is motorcycle poker run benefiting the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. All money raised through this event’s participants and sponsors is donated to a Children’s representative and we start the next year with a zero balance. I am covering the cost of the band while the cost of the t-shirts is covered again this year by a “volunteer”. None of the money we raise is touched.
The idea for Jessica’s Run is based on the excellent care my youngest daughter received during the 5 years she was a patient at CHOA. I cannot say enough about the doctors, nurses, staff and volunteers of the Aflac Cancer Center, both inpatient and outpatient.
After my daughter’s passing, I had a desire do what I could to help fight childhood cancer through fundraising for research and family support.
This is not a foundation or an organization, this is a grass roots event that is coordinated through myself and my brother Mark. This is the third year for the event.
The date for this year is September 14th and the bikes will be leaving from and returning to S’more BBQ in Douglasville. Activities include the silent auction, 50/50 drawing, best/worst hand and music by Sweet and Salty.
The link below will direct you to the Jessica’s Run web page where you will find Jessica’s story she presented at the Rally on the Runway charity event. I could not give a better description of her journey as she did and won’t even try.
