As the 2015 season has come to a close, it is time to start honoring drivers, teams, sponsors and more for their role in making the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards season one to remember. Chevrolet has emerged as the manufacturer’s champion for the series, its first since a three-year winning streak ended in 2012.
“Chevrolet has been a great partner this season,” said Grant Enfinger, driver of the No. 23 Chevrolet for GMS Racing. “Since Chevrolet is such a huge part of GMS Racing, it was a great feeling to bring fast Chevy’s to the track every week. It was an honor being a part of Chevy’s 2015 Manufacturer’s Championship and visiting Victory Lane six times this season with them.”
Chevrolet went to victory lane 12 times in 2015 – starting with the first four races of the season – Daytona, Mobile, Nashville and Salem. Later, it cruised into the victory circle at Michigan, Iowa, Lucas Oil, Pocono, Berlin, DuQuoin, Salem and Kansas.
In addition to Enfinger, Ken Schrader, Ross Kenseth, Mason Mitchell (2), Travis Braden and Cole Custer each took a Chevrolet to victory lane in 2015.
Overall, Chevrolet’s had a great year in the series. Besides race wins, the manufacturer compiled 42 of a possible 100 top five finishes. Ford was runner-up with 24.
“It’s back to my roots,” Mitchell said. “I started my racing career racing a Chevy. It just feels back at home racing a Chevrolet Impala. What a better way to reconnect with Chevrolet then two wins and the support of Karl Chevrolet.”
Ford was the defending manufacturer’s title holder, having won the award in 2014.
The ARCA Racing Series will honor Chevrolet along with a host of drivers, team owners and sponsors during its 2015 post-season banquet in Indianapolis on Dec. 12, and tickets are now on sale.
