TROY COUGHLIN JR. MAKES IT TWO IN A ROW FOR ELITE MOTORSPORTS WITH VICTORY AT THE SCAG PRO SUPERSTAR SHOOTOUT

SCAG PRO Superstar Shootout 2025

BRADENTON, Fla. (Feb. 08, 2025) – Troy Coughlin Jr. had a Cinderella
Story-type day Saturday at the SCAG Power Equipment PRO Superstar
Shootout at Bradenton Motorsports Park. The JEGS.com driver narrowly
qualified for the 16-car field in the final qualifying session night
before rallying to victory. Elite Motorsports has now won both of the
specialty events, first held last year with Erica Enders celebrating in
the winners circle.

“You know, it’s so surreal, I haven’t even really let it sink in yet,
but we’re definitely gonna enjoy this, and thank you to the PRO group,
and all the sponsors involved, especially SCAG,” said Tory Jr. “We
have such a wonderful organization in drag racing. And that’s, that’s
the PRO group and PRO Promotions. They care about the racers, they care
about the fans, they care about the vendors. There’s just so much that
goes into putting a race on.  They absolutely did a phenomenal job. It’s
an honor just to be here.”

Troy Jr. entered race day in the No. 14 position. The JEGS.com team
struggled through qualifying and were on the outside looking in before
laying down a 6.567-second pass at 209.85 mph to jump from the No. 17
spot.

In the chip draw, Troy Jr. line up against Bo Butner who was filling in
for Elite Motorsports teammate Stephen Bell. Butner would have a
6.607-second pass at 208.68 but be outrun by Troy Jr.’s 6.555 at
209.23. Another chip draw for the quarterfinals landed Troy Jr. against
reigning Pro Stock world champion Greg Anderson. It would be another
solid side-by-side drag race with Troy Jr. handling the JEGS machine to
a 6.609 at 209.23 to defeat Anderson’s 6.619 at 205.69.

In the semifinals, Troy Jr. would race teammate David Cuadra who
defeated Matt Latino in a pedalfest and his brother Cristina Cuadra who
redlit by -.003-seconds to make the semifinal appearance. The drag race
would be close but Tory Jr.’s 6.571 at 208.97 was enough to take down
David’s 6.598 at 207.50.

In the finals, it would be a KB Titan versus Elite Motorsports showdown
with Troy Jr. running against No. 1 qualifier Cory Reed. The race was
won at the start with Reed leaving too soon, he’d have a -.017 second
redlight handing the win to Troy Jr. who rattled the tires at the hit to
eventually cross the finish line at 11.859-seconds and 121.67 mph.

“This JEGS.com machine, we had some wonderful fortune today and
we’ll take anything we can get. God is good,” said Troy Jr. “The
guys that work on this JEGS.com machine, they’ve been working their
tails off. I’m just really excited to be behind the wheel and get to
drive for these guys.”

Joining David Cuadra and Tory Jr. in the semifinals was new teammate,
Greg Stanfield. Stanfield qualified No. 13 and made it past Deric Kramer
(6.595 at 209.59 def. 7.325 at 158.93) and his son, Aaron Stanfield
(6.592 at 209.01 def. 6.588 at 208.62) before coming up short to Reed
(6.563 at 209.43 def. 6.582 at 208.68).

The nine-car Elite Motorsports team will next hit the track at the
season opening NHRA Gatornationals at Gainesville Raceway March 7-9.
