Michelin Endurance Challenge Weekend Race Week Is Here

The Michelin Endurance Challenge Weekend is finally upon us, and that means IMSA racing is back at Michelin Raceway for the first of two rounds over the next month and a half!

The six-hour TireRack.com Grand Prix this Saturday is the headliner for the weekend, but there is on-track action from sun up to sun down this weekend! On Sunday afternoon, fans can experience the four-hour VP Racing Stay Frosty Coolants 240, which features the Michelin Pilot Challenge competitors. With this much thrilling action to catch and ticket prices starting at just $50, this is a chance to get out of the house and have some fun that you won’t want to miss! Don’t forget to bring the whole family out, as kids 12 and under enter for free!

As a special note, all guests should be aware of a few measures in place for the safety of all fans, teams and staff in attendance:

All guests will be required to bring and wear face coverings when interacting with those outside of their group
Guests will be screened prior to entering the event gates; initial screening will include questions regarding current health status and potential exposure, as well as a non-contact temperature check
Strict adherence to the CDC-recommended 6’ social distancing will be mandated onsite
Individual bottles of hand sanitizer will be provided to guests upon entry
Multiple handwashing and hand sanitizing stations will be placed throughout the facility
A “Clean Team” of staff will be cleaning and disinfecting restrooms and other public areas throughout the weekend
Both the infield paddock and Tower Paddock are off-limits to guests
No autograph sessions or public gridwalk will be available
No shuttles will be available – all infield parking is free

Welcome Race Fans

Racing fans are familiar with banners that hang from convenience store windows, on street corners and throughout communities hosting races that simply read “Welcome Race Fans.”

Never in my years of managing events has “Welcome Race Fans” meant as much to me personally and to the guests we serve. This weekend Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta will host the Michelin Endurance Challenge Weekend including Saturday’s six-hour TireRack.com Grand Prix IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race. We will indeed welcome many great fans back to the Raceway as professional sports slowly return.

In fact, Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta will welcome race fans twice in the next six weeks when the regularly scheduled Motul Petit Le Mans returns Oct. 14-17. Our team has worked hard over the last number of months to make your visit on site enjoyable. While you will likely experience some differences from events past, including the need for masks, distancing, and a closed paddock, the same great racing and socializing with family and friends will be in full effect.

Rest assured we are working to make your time with us as safe and enjoyable as possible and the unique nature of facilities like Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta allows us to be fully prepared to host the greatest race fans and race teams in the world.

Every precaution is being taken to keep the focus on the on-track excitement provided by IMSA and its teams and drivers. As you know, we are fortunate that we are part of a large organization that includes both NASCAR and IMSA tracks. Many of these tracks have been hosting events since May, with fans in attendance at many of the races. Much has been learned at every one of these events and we have the benefit of this knowledge.

Everyone in our industry has taken on new responsibilities that, quite frankly, we didn’t ask for, but we have all gladly accepted them so that we can welcome you back to the track.

Never has “Welcome Race Fans” meant so much, and we can’t wait to see you and welcome you in person instead of with words on a banner.

Sincerely,
Rick Humphrey
President & General Manager
